After spending years in New York City, Elise Hernke is now a Los Angeles resident in the Specialized Journalism of Arts & Culture program at University of Southern California for graduate school. While working in marketing, she developed an interest in film journalism and started this blog (paired w/ the Instagram account) on the side. This is when she took followers through several film series deep-dives such as Italian Horror, Black Stories, World War II and Westerns. Eventually, she created a podcast from the ground up (writing, hosting, editing, producing) called Cinematic Breadcrumbs which encompassed discussion-based, interview style and long form essay format movie reviews. She is a freelance writer on film, television, entertainment and culture and has bylines for Ampersand LA.
